Katie

About

In 2003 my family and I were poisoned by Carbon Monoxide. Unfortunately, my eleven year old sister Katie did not survive. My work represents the memories my family and I have of Katie through the use of projection onto various surfaces and materials. As stated by Kracauer (1927) 'A memory is ‘selective, fuzzy in outline, intensively subjective, often incoherent, and invariably changes over time’. Therefore, using materiality and projection I have represented the fragility of memory. Furthermore, I have portrayed vivid and faded memories using different materials that affect the colour intensity of the projected image.
